NZTRI, in conjunction with CPAN (Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research @ AUT), has been awarded a research grant from SPARC (Sport and Recreation New Zealand). The research investigates the ability of mass-participation sport events (MPSE) to facilitate sustainable increases to both physical activity levels by adults who were previously insufficiently active or sedentary to investigate the relationship between participation events and increased levels of physical activity.
This research project is important because:
NZTRI conducted a web-based Audience Survey at the 2008 ERUPT Lake Taupo Festival. This biennial festival of the arts ran from 8-18 May 2008 in Taupo. The survey was designed to provide a clearer picture of festival audience including demographics and psychographics, satisfaction with the festival, sponsor recognition and level of expenditure in the local area. The project was completed in July 2008.
